I'd like to see the VFR motor come out in a cruiser frame again; maybe a V75 Magna?
I dislike all the V twin Harley-clones, we need another Magna muscle cruiser. A dresser for the long trips, with enough ground clearance to have some fun in the twisties. My V65 Magna is getting very long in the tooth, and needs a replacement.

I'm new here as I've recently bought a 2nd hand VFR as the prospect of touring the German / Swiss / Italian Borders on my V4 Tuono next week seemed less appealing than naked bike touring has in past years - Mugello on a Superduke, Misano on a FZ1, etc. The VFR does what it does very well and has luggage, but the Tuono is just a completely different, visceral, riding experience, and one I'm fortunate enough to be able to keep as well as the more sensible option.

Hi SteviejUk, I've had a Tuono, new in 2006, but I really couldn't get on with, throttle was to on-off and the motor to lumpy to enjoy at anything under 70, and to hard to hang to and anything over 100....but between 70 and 100 it was fab ! haha
I had A CB1000R in 2008, thought it would be fun like the Tuono but with better fueling, and it was, but again I realised I wanted/needed some kind of fairing..... Have tried the 2 bike thing, 1150RT/GSXR1000, CB1300/Blade, Pan/GSXR600, but as per this thread, I want the VFR to be nearest there is to being 'the best of both worlds' so I only have 1 bike. Although 'Honda1964' maybe is right, 3 bikes, with the VFR sitting in his garage between his R1 and Pan....it makes sense.....now where did I put that bank loan application....! haha |

Just my thoughts on the whole subject:
I bought the VFR to update my Fazer thou (old version) which I loved to bits, but the deals on offer for the VFR made it hard to say no. I think the vfr is brilliant at pretty much everything. I'd reckon down any road apart from something like the Stelvio Pass I personally would be as quick on it as any other bike. The confidence it inspires and the stability just allows me to really press on. Or to put another way, keep up (or try to!) with the others without pushing so hard. Which means I'm not as knackered after a long day. The only thing I used to miss about the Fazer was the riding position, but I've just fitted some helibars, and now I reckon it's pretty much perfect! |
