View Full Version : Krug Rucksac - Very, very good kit

Yesterday, following the article in MCN, I tried out and then bought a “Krug” rucksack. As the hype correctly stated, it really is (in rucksack terms) a pretty pukka piece of kit. The 25-litre option closely resembles a shrunken parachute rucksack, with heavily padded straps and a chest-fastening via 4 point Quadlock harness – clunk-click variety. Both this and the 35 litre ‘sac have large pieces of reflective material, making up for what the ‘sac might obscure of anything on your jacket.

Made of Cordura, the ‘sac is “waterproof”, a great relief from the otherwise mandatory Sainsburys bags etc. With a built-in back protection system, you have more piece of mind, particularly when the ‘sac is held so comfortably and securely. It also has an expandable front pocket (waterproof trousers etc) and oversized zips, so saves taking off the gloves.

The ‘sac really does look good (honest) and certainly should last, particularly as it comes with a 10 year guarantee.

No, I don’t have any company shares, but having used rucksacs on bikes and foot for ages, I thought the least I could do is pass on the word.

Link attached.

Merlin,

i've got a Krug as well - got the 25 litre bag (if you need to carry anything bigger then I think you should be using a box or tank bag). I am very impressed with the build quality and it does fit snug to the body so you don't get any wind tug at high speeds.

Again - no relationship with Krug - just dead impressed with a very good (if somewhat pricey) bit of kit.

How much are they? I can't use my tank bag on the KLX as the tank is a weird shape.

Don't have the receipt with me, but think it was either £65 or £68. Pricey I know, but as one who has humped all sorts of 'sacs, with anything from sandwiches to 80kg of clobber in them, this one comes with a very strong recommendation. If you can stretch that far, then do.

80 kilos???? Hopefully not on a bike that is!?

Must have been in the commandos then? ;)

After reading your comments I ordered the R25 online and it arrived the next day....very efficient!

Lovely bag - does the job well....only criticism I have is that the straps are tight around my chest with all the winter clobbers I am wearing on my daily commute! And no - I am not a fat bastard!

Who accused you of being a bastard?

Gastom,

read through the destructions - you should be able to adjust it a little to accommodate winter kit. I know what you mean about getting it on in the first place when you've got all weather gear on, though.

Dazza - got yours yet? What do you think?

Do you also have any problems in adjusting the lower two straps once the rucksack is on?

They simply won't adjust in my case unless I take the bag off!

Gastom,

Don't know m8 - only used the top straps to tighten things up. It can be a bit of a pain getting the thing on at first but i've found that with all bags when you've got some tight leathers on and waterproofs on top, too.

Still - excellent bag and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Leathers?! You won't catch me in leathers in the weather we have been having recently! In fact - I haven't got any yet!

Hope to pick up some bargains at Ally Pally!

Nope, still waiting!

Damn & feck. Parcelfarce tried to deliver it while I was at work. So instead of leaving it with a neighbour like most couriers seem to do, they are going to try again tomorrow!! Surprise, surprise, I'll be at work though.

With any luck they'll leave it with someone this time. Even taking it to their depot would be better than attempting to deliver it when I'm not here!!

Surprise, surprise, they tried to deliver it while I was at work (3 times in total) and took it back to their depot. Picked it up this morning, and it seem very good. Fits really well, and has good padding on the straps and back.

The easily adjustable buckles are great for tightening it up once you've got it over your jacket. With the clips on the front, it should be very secure. Feels like you're wearing a parachute pack!!

The insert for the laptop seems pretty good too and should keep the rain from getting in.

Well impressed. Thanks so much for the recommendation Merlin. I'll get you a beer or two if you're on the AGRO.

Cheers
