hey everyone,

i am a new to this site, but very thankful that it is here. i am living in china and currently bought a mid nineties model vfr. unfortunately i dont know the exact date, as they dont register the year of the model. i am having electrical problems. it seems that the battery is not recharging, but when we put the battery in my buddy's cbr it starts right up. my friend suggested that it may be the coils, but i honestly dont know where to look. because it is a used bike and who knows what the other owners have done to it. any advice would be of great help. Thanks.

Nǐ hǎo, picassov7. Méi guānxì. (I hope this means, "Hello, picassov7. Don't worry.") :dunno:

I wouldn't have thought that both coils would fail at the same time, so I think we should be looking elsewhere.

Can you tell us the model of your bike, and what the symptoms of your problem are? For example, are the lights bright, do the indicators flash regularly, does the engine turn over on the starter at all?

Don't gut the whole system, mate. It's probably just the rectifier/regulator.
