Help Please,

I have a German friend who is after a Scorpion Carbon Fibre round end exhaust.

Can you tell me are there any known problems with this exhaust, if so what else would you recomend must be E marked?

Secondly where is the best place to buy one?

Thanks, Phil.

Neither will he be legally entitled to use it one the road with one either! T.U.V and all that.

Good job they lost the war or we'd all be riding around on sewing machines, and flat twin ones at that!

I think the rules in Germany are you fit the new part ( exhaust ) take it down to the TUV for the inspection. If it passes it is marked up in the log book.

But back to the origional question where can I get one assuming they are ok as he wants one?

This is the bike. http://www.vfr-oc.de/galerie/1915.htm

Scorpion's supposed to be good kit, though I have never owned one meself. One recently placed very well in a RiDE comparison test (not on an RVF, though). Can't really understand why he can't order one from the UK and have it sent to D-land. Unlike in Germany, virtually everyone in the UK takes credit cards... In theory, an "E-marked" end can should be legal everywhere in Europe, but (I think this is how it works), if it doesn't come with the Germany specific "ABE" paperwork, you have to get it inspected and noted in the logbook. With the ABE, you don't. I've never bothered to sort this out, though, as I don't (and won't) have any vehicles registered in Germany...

The RVF has a three-bolt mounting flange, but I'm not sure which UK-spec bikes share that particular mount, if any. If there is not an RVF-specific Scorpion listed, another end can might fit, but the can itself might be too long, not have the correct hangar, etc. If he already knows there is a Scorpion that will suit the RVF, then I can't see a problem of ordering one.

do scorpion do a pipe with a removable baffle?

i know that blueflame do a twin port carbon evo can specifically for the NC35 with a removable baffle that's entirely road legal with the baffle in, stamped and all. it's only available oval and tri-oval i'm afraid but they're the mutts nuts and you can buy direct from blueflame so there shouldn't be any hassle getting one

check it out:
can here:
