OK finally got to test ou the starcom1 I bought at the BMF...

Rider + music (Helmet SHOEI Raid II no whisper strip)
--------------------------------------------------
This works v.well. I use my phone as an MP3 player and it is adequate to 95 mph+. 70mph it is good quality.
Set the music to comfortable level when sitting on bike before setting off as volume will increase with external noise (or do they only measure voltage i.e. the faster you are going the more voltage... hmmm anyway it works whatever they do).

You can either use the phone input in which the music only shuts off on an incoming call or use the music input in which if you talk the vox kicks in and the music shuts off (good if group riding and talk to someone @ the lights or something).

Rider + Phone (Helmet SHOEI Raid II no whisper strip, Orange c500 phone)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well with auto answer set to 8 seconds no problem recieving a call.
Could hear other person 80mph+
Talking to other person only seemed to be 65mph however....
Maybe my phone as it is a little finicky with hands free mics aswell....
With music playing on my phone the phone call automatically pauses the music. Result.
N.B. I hate talking whilst riding so any calls I recieve I politely say I am on the bike and will call back later. If its the lass phoning about dinner then will just suck on the end of the mic as it is full of saliva..... mmmm dinner.....

Rider + Pillion (Helmet SHOEI Raid II no whisper strip, Helmet AGV V-Flier)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Initially we had the speakers behind the AGV pads inside the helmet however using this the pillion could only hear me upto 60-65mph (the pads are quite deep).
With the speakers next to the ear in the helmet recess the pillion could understand me 70-75mph and could make out what I was saying 80mph+
normal easy conversation is really below 65mph however.

The mics are on all the time so wind noise is heard from the speakers. This is OK however a little tiring after a while.
If the pillion has their visor up @ 60mph it is a little loud

Rider + Pillion +music (Helmet SHOEI Raid II no whisper strip, Helmet AGV V-Flier)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
TBA

Rider + Pillion + bike to bike (Helmet SHOEI Raid II no whisper strip, Helmet AGV V-Flier)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Waiting on my mate to get some blinking ear pieces for his raidio... Do you hear me buy them already grrrrrr ;)

Overall
-------
Easy to fit and use.
Cheaper than Autocom (hey I even wrangled more than 15% discount plus a couple of leads thrown in :D)
Does the job however not sure if I would like rider pillion for long distance with wind noise in ears... will try with music an pillion to see if this is OK.

Hope this helps.

Went out tonight, with phone, music and radio all attached. Thought I would test the phone by first phoning someone and asking them to stay on line whilst I connected up and set off. Volume levels fine at rest but by the time I got up to 50 the volume was enormous and hurt!! Started again with the phone on minimum volume, starcom on minimum and the music on nearly max. Phone volume was fine, music levels were fine and muted okay when the call was answered and when I used the radio. Trouble was interference started (only slightly) then phone went off, this happened twice, and I am wondering if it is because I phoned somone and set off, when I suppose it is designed for calls coming in. Strange that the volume levels of the kit are all over the place. I will need to test again tomorrow, with someone calling me on the phone, and see if I can hold a long conversation with them, but i need to get someone to monitor me on the radio , before i will be completely happy.
