After following the threads I finally acquired a Garmin 2610 but a bit confused ref which mount to get is this the one? http://www.adventure-motorcycling.co.uk/products/?product=176 or this http://www.adventure-motorcycling.co.uk/products/?product=175 with the adventure mtg then add headphone lead. Will probably be using small tank bag will this make a difference to mtg choice :h :h

I think you need both, plus some extra bits.

I have also just recently got a 2610. I already had a RAM ball-mount on the bike with an arm to connect it to a Touratech cradle for my eTrex Vista. So I just got RAM cradle for the 2610 and the RAM diamond ball to bolt to the back of it. Oh, and the M/C power/audio cable and headset.

You could buy Garmins own mount :- P010-10495-00 and buy your fitting kit from Gadgetguy. The Garmin kit comes with your Power supply lead and voice lead, which would leave you to purchase a speaker from adventuremotorcycling for your helmet.
1.The Garmins kit costs £32 approx.

2. The Speaker £30 approx.

3. You could then go a couple of roads, the RAM Fixture route, (lots of suppliers of these type of mounts) or the Gadgetguy route. Check out his Website:- www.gadgetguy.net
the brackets you would require are Universal Bracket Kit 111 with Base Plate 11. I think they look good.

Bilko.....Who did you make your purchase with if you don't mind me asking?

or the Gadgetguy route. Check out his Website:- www.gadgetguy.netI like the look of the 2610 cradle. I appreciate the peak to shade the screen from direct sunlight. Looks like it blocks off the infra-red detector for the remote though.

The gadgetguy bracket looks a little over-engineered IMHO & I expect very expensive. I thought the Touratech bracket was expensive enough, but having used it for several months, I think it's worth the money (£55). On the GS you can mount it direct to the handlebar, but on the VFR I think you'd need a RAM mount as well, adding another £20+ to the cost.

Charles

crvfr.... You check out his prices by going to his shop, for the two brackets I mention 134 dollars 95cents = £75 plus P&P....... I do not think that is over priced for what I think to be a good bit of kit!!!!!! You pays your money and all that ,and if you prefer the look of the RAM mounts for similar money ....so be it!!!!

From the guy on e-bay Morbid-Cobra, terrible to get hold of as his ebay email is non valid but the service was excellent; paid on Friday got it today, but no batteries for remote :violin: :violin: :D

Question: Anyone got any pics of their Street pilot mounted on a VFR? Rather fancy the Touratech mount with RAM mtg kit(does this attach to the fuel tank bolts) but no pic on site, is it lockable? Mtg + power kit(inc baterry pack could be useful) + speaker £188
Adventure motorcycling complete mount power lead and speaker comes in at £128.90 again no good pic of the mount but it is custom made for VFR
What a dilemma :bang: :bang:

HI Bilko, tried to contact this guy over the weekend ...no joy ...and now is not a registered user!!!! Just my luck.
1. My understanding of the Touratech is that you remove the screws ( either on the left or Right on Handle bar controls, use longer screws and attach to this point your Touratech Ram Fitting, you then would need an arm and an adaptor plate to attach your 2610, this is how I think it fits!
2. If you go to search and put in 'street pilot', you will get some photos of different types of mounts on some of the threads,in fact Schtum has rather a nice photo of his RAM fitting, which is the type which is fitted to the tank securing screws! If you cannot find it there search Schtum,s threads, he has also listed the parts required for doing the job at a fraction of the cost of Touratech!!!

Thanks for Schtum (Alan?) did all those items come from GPS Warehouse? Can you remember what the were called? An Old Luddite like me is finding their site a bit cluttered and confusing

PS is top unit a missile guidance system for wayward motorists? :)

No, it's one of these...... (http://www.franklin-uk.co.uk/index.cfm?fuseaction=MoreDetails&ItemID=150) I'm trialing it, before it becomes a mandatory requirement for membership of the site...... ;)

Seriously, it's a Snooper S6R Neo (http://www.snooper.co.uk/snooper-s6-r-gatso-and-radar-detector.htm).

I got mine from www.adventure-motorcycling.co.uk
Thay had one in stock when even Touratech didn't have any, and it was delivered the next day! (you can also buy directly from Touratech). All TT stuff is the same price anywhere, so the only thing that matters is who has it in stock.

Charles

Judging by the number of speed cameras I saw over your area on way to Kelso, I reckon you need one of those and a very deep pocket

The arms come in different lengths, so it may depend if you ride with or without a tank bag as to which length of arm you prefer. You may not need the last item, but it is shown in Schtum's photo , Short shaft with ball at either end.

You'll need the the shaft with a ball at each end if you wish to use the 2nd and 3rd items on your list together. If you only want a short arm then you will only need the first two items on your list. Personally, I think that the GPS unit would be mounted too low down if you were to use only one arm. Also, I find that mine is mounted at a height which enables it to sit just in front of my Oxford tankbag, in its unextended state and still allows me to view the bike's instruments.

Has anyone fitted a power source for a 2610 or 2620 on an ABS VTEC?

The black part of the fairing on the LHS --- the cigar lighter position shown on Wiz's original pic---- feels very full on the underside.

Also where do the headphones plug into either of the above?

Which is the mount shown on Schtum's bike---- looks very neat, does anyone think there is a better one?

Many thanks in anticipation--- any pics would be most useful

Don't some people get boring!! :bang: :bang:

Also where do the headphones plug into either of the above?Assuming you have got the dedicated bare-wire power/audio lead. At the other end the cable splits into one lead which plugs into the 26xx, and a second lead which had a plug for the headphone. See the last two items here

http://www.adventure-motorcycling.co.uk/products/?category=60

I got the kit which also includes a curly wired extension lead which plugs into that and the headhone which plugs into the other end of the the curly lead. I trap the curly extension under the tankbag. The alternative is to plug the audio feed into an Autocom installation.
