Considering splashing-out on a PDA for work. Would also like to use for both car/bike GPS mode.

I've done a pretty thorough search of the site and loads of really useful advice as usual :bow: General opinion on the Web and Club site(s) appears to be............Ipaq H2210, CF GPS Receiver, SD Card, numerous car/bike mounts and TomTom3.

Best I can do cost wise is Ipaq £227 (new), CF/GPS/SD Card total £85 from HK off eBay and TT3 £92 + about £50 for assorted mount bits.

Is this pretty much the latest recommendation or can anyone add more recent advice on system, components and prices?

Any advice where I can get downloads for navigation software (possibly for evaluation ;) )

Thanks, Philip.

Checkout GlobalPositioningSystems (http://www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk/viewprod.php?product_id=508&category_id=103) for the 2210, currently £222.94, inc P&P. Got mine from there, very good service. They also do RAM bike mount at a very good price, about £19 ish if I remember correctly.

At present that does seem to be the best combination, and your prices seems to be fairly accurate.

I still reckon the O2 XDA II runs a close race tho'. It's as fast and has the same memory as the 2210, is bluetooth capable AND it's a tri-band mobile phone. The only thing worse is it doesn't have a CF slot, only SD/MMC, and they're available for ~£200. Anyone know any reason why not to have one?

AFAIK the 2210 is the only PDA with both CF and SD slots. It's really convenient on the bike just to have one thing to connect and remove.

As for price you could also look at Expansys (http://www.expansys.com). Alternatively if you know someone who's travelling outside the EEC you can pick one up at Dixons duty free for less than £200. That''s what I did at the beginning of April.

I bought my mounts from GPS Warehouse (http://www.gpsw.co.uk). Car and bike mounts came to £42.46 including delivery & VAT.

Just came across ad in Makro for Ipaq H1930 and software with Kirrio GPS system. PDA cradle and charger with UK map software for £229.99 + VAT.

Not sure this represents good value or not, :dunno: but I'm sure someone will soon?

My budget may stretch to a Tuff Map! :} :} :}
