View Full Version : UK to Toulouse - any advice experience?
Hi all,
I'm seriously thinking about taking my girl down to see the inlaws in Toulouse this summer. Just fitted new BT020-BBs, done an oil change, chain+ sprockets are good to go, and will probably do a major service beforehand to be sure.
Any advice? Anyone done UK to south-west france before? I'm thinking two days as a) I don't want to do all motorways (boring....) and b) no need to make it a ball-breaker.
Heading to Albi btw. Any advice would be greatly received.
Cheers,

If i go down that way we usually go Rouen Le Mans Saumur call in at Oradour-sur-Glane fanous French village burnt to the ground by th SS in WW2 killing most of the villagers left as it was to this day & built another beside it with a museum & village walk ,then Limoges Sarlat Montauban.
If you look these up you should be able to pick a route .We usually stop at le Mans or Saumur
Good Luck   Ian
Cheers Red. I think an overnight in Le Mans is the way forward.

The Girlfriend and I went down to provence last year and that took 3 days including the day to go from home to the ferry. we avoided most toll roads as on the normal roads they were so long and empty you could just sit at well over 100MPH for hours on end and you got scenery rather than nothing to look at but tarmac.
This year we're planning on passing near Toulouse but thats cos we're going to Provence again but this time from the ferry at Bilbao. That way we get to do the Pyranees AND the alps in one holiday!! :yo:
Had you thought of going to Spain then heading North? It might be a bit more interesting than going from the North as France seems a bit flat and boring till you get quite a way down!!

PS Nev, looks like I'll be PMing you about our holiday!! ;)
