It seems that my new Dell Axim is discharging the battery at a pretty alarming rate although it isn't actually being used.

It was fully charged on Saturday, but was only showing 23% charge this evening.

I guess it may have to run the internal clock whilst it is switched off, but surely it shouldn't be discharging at a rate of 25% a day.

Does this sound normal or does it sound like a fault.

I'm sure I read somewhere that some makes of SD card can discharge batteries. Mine's a 256mb "Integral". It's made in Japan, so I thought it'd be a quality product :dunno:

The Axim sometimes goes "funny" with battery readings, mine often says the backup battery's dead , then an hour later 100%, sometimes it seems to be temperature sensitive.

The other thing might be, that you've got the inbox checking for messages :dunno: :dunno:

Have a look on www.aximsite.com , bit like this site, someone will know whats up

By the way is yours a X5 advanced running WM2003 ???

Had a similar problem with my Jornada recently but didn't spot it and the thing reset to defaults (thank god for backups). Removed the MMC and it cured the problem.

Don't know if the Dell would do the same.

Thanks for the advice John - I actually found that site last night, so I'll do some more digging. The battery was completely dead at the weekend though when I returned from Germany (it's an X3 BTW).

Do you keep it charged up all the time, when I'm not using it, mine sits in the cradle on charge constantly

No, but after reading your question and the Axim site, I will be doing from now on.
