Just got back from a superb trip on the bike, with the obligitory many dashes round the Ring. That's the second year in a row I've been there and have racked up a few laps now, but it was only towards the end of the week i managed to avoid being spat out of the carousel early. Scary!

But that's not the point. Loads of people on this site know how good the area is, in reach of the Mosel Valley, the gorgeous Eifel Mountains and the Black Forest. The riding in this region is just fantastic. Whilst there we stayed with Brendan and Suzann in the village of Dollendorf just outside of Blankenheim. (www.slidersguesthouse.com) Just the ride there on the 258 is worth the trip, but the service these two provide really is excellent. There's 5 comfortable rooms, large terrace outside with BBQ, secure garage, 42" tv usually showing English satelite or biking vid's and a genuine welcome.

When we got there Bren showed us to the fridge and invited us to make ourselves at home. Just mark down on a sheet how many beers you drink and pay when you leave. He can rightly be described as an expert on the Ring, and is more than willing to show any number of riders round at any pace, fast or slow depending on your ability.

Two guys went through a set of tyres each. Brendan replaced them at cost, no labour. My mate was on a blade, and the strap which holds the can on snapped. Over a beer that evening he asked Brendan if he had one kicking about that would fit, only to be told there was a replacement already fitted, no charge. About seven of us wanted to go for a meal but obviously couldn't take the bikes cos we'd be drinking. So we piled into the house mini-bus and were taken to the restaurant, again no charge.

The riding was excelent, but only made up for half the enjoyment. Staying at Sliders made up the rest. I cannot recomend this place enough. Many of the other riders who were there at the same time had been before, and all said they would go again. I most certainly will and would urge anyone else to as well, you difinitely wouldn't regret it.
