The new Metzeler Z8's are getting good reviews, topping all the tests I've seen.

I went from Roadsmarts to PR3's and I have to say I prefer the;
Roadsmarts:d:
But thats on a 1300s:d:
Hi folks.
Got MetzelerZ8s on at the mo and done 4k miles on them. Good both wet/dry
but nearly worn out.
In my opinion the MetzelerInteract5s are a better tyre
P.S.
Still waiting for answer from Honda/Dunlop about the original tyres that worn
out after 2k MILES.:B::beer:

PR3's for me. I'm on my second set now and I love 'em. Real confidence inspiring in the rain - which is pretty important during a UK summer :}. The 1st set lasted me 11,500 miles too which was a real bonus :)
Cheers

BT023's on mine, very good in both wet and dry, only done about 1100 miles on them so can't comment on longevity

PeteI could't get 11,500 miles out of the tyres on my http://www.focusrsoc.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/rs.gif :} never mind on 2 wheels. :d:

PR3s - great. On my 2nd set - best tyres I've ever had. 8k out of first and that was only because the rear had squared-off a bit due to commuting evry day through winter, i.e. upright!:d:
Brilliant in wet and dry:bow:
anyone using Avon storms?

Did I say I vote for PR3's?
Thanks to Wattsy, I think I have about another 1000 miles left in mine. So that means Magny Cours and back should be fine!:d:

I would have expected to have changed my tyres months ago but a combination of illness and sh*t weather means I'm only just clocking up 4K on my BT 021's.
What puzzles me is that the front is well worn on the sides and is just about on the wear bars in the centre but the rear still has some life in it although the tread has kind of lifted on the front edge of each tread cut.
Most people seem to get much more mileage out of a back tyre than they do a front, I'm usually about level on wear front to back, am I doing something wrong?
anybody tried the new continental contimotions on their vfr12? - seem good VFM at gbp162 for the pair but are they any good?

nothing wrong here ! i dont understand how you can change only rear and leave the front for next time.Maybe different stile of riding! In my case the front/rear are changed at the same time. The front tyre is worn pretty well worn on the sides/cornering/,centre the same story-heavy braking, and if i look close i can see how uneven and `bumpy` is. I am on mine oem and about to change them as well.Closing 5,6k + 1 track day/took at least 1K off/ and still can do 2k commuting, but the square rear is no good anymore for diving in the corners.:d:

Exactly the same here, only heavy braking on roads i dont know as was the case yesterday. Always been 2rear -1front, although Dunlop fronts seem to 'go off' differently to others.

I could get the heavy braking thing if it was in the centre of the tyre but it's mostly the shoulders that are worn. I use a fair amount of engine braking and I tend to get my braking over and done with in a straight line before tipping into the corner although I do seem to tip in later than my 2 riding buddies and use up less road coming out. Perhaps my time racing cars has ingrained the wrong lines to use on a bike?

I always used to get 30% more or so from a front, but on the 1200 with PR3's, the front and rear died together. Infact, the front probably should have been changed about 1000 miles before the rear which is not something I've ever had happen before.
Cheers

For road riding this is the correct line to take, or so I have been trained!

i wrote this under the influence of my weekend ride -out,but forgot the daily up-right commuting :).Thats the main reason for the square tyres!

Always always change tyres in pairs. This provides accurate tracking and, handling characteristics. It's amazing how's many people risk anything other than perfect handling for the sake of a 100 quid front tyre ...:club:

+1 ,no +100 on this one!:top::top::top:.there is no way i will leave the old front tyre and spoil the fun of having a new rear:stupid:

Just put some S20's on my bike. The old rear one, at 4,600 miles still had loads of wear in it. The front would maybe have done another 1500 but I wanted to try something else, as this is my first bike and I have been scrutinising tyre reviews for weeks and these were highly recommended.
The S20's impressed immediately riding from the dealers, where I had them changed and the 30 odd miles home were a revelation! Scrubbed the sides already....bloody good job the release agent was off!
Keep you posted on longevity. Any comments from other members welcome.:rave:

Thanks for your input fellas. As I had 30 years off 2 wheels the last 3years that I've been back on have been a pretty steep learning curve. I now realise how lucky I was to survive back in the days of CS5200's RD350,s Kwak KH etc.
I always try to take in what the experienced guys tell me but I suppose some elements of driving quick cars does transfer to bikes I just wasn't sure whether there was a fundamental error that was causing my front tyre wear when so many people talk about 2 to 1 f-r wear ratios.

The BT021's are infamous for that, as were the 020's before them.
As for always changing tyres in pairs, I've had many a bike that didn't need to as the fronts had still been round and had thousands of miles left in them. Did that on RSV's, FJR's and now my KTM Supermoto. But then it is hard to keep the front wheel on the ground!!:d:
