I've just agreed to buy a 2010 1200 in the very fast silver (I liked the stealth look!).
Compared to my current triumph tiger its a bit of a missile so I'm sure I'll be having some fun touring next year.
This one has the full luggage, heated grips, fairing wind deflectors, high screen, hugger and 5.5k miles!
I'll hopefully get the bike this week. It's in Manchester and I'm in Aberdeen so I've told them that if it's not as described I'll kill someone!
Can't wait!

Hi and welcome, good bunch on here, lots of help and opinions, if people can help or advise then they will, I've only been on a few weeks and it's already been a great help.

Hopefully get the bike on Thursday, if not it'll be Monday as my mates stag is this weekend.
With any luck summer might have happened by then, otherwise the 700 mile round trip will suck!

Mmmm....If the forecast is anything to go by I would make sure you wear/pack/take your waterproofs !!

Good job someone has run it in for you, or you would be due a service before you got back home!

Yup, I'll be wearing goretex cordura gear with waterproofs over the top if they'll fit.
The water tends to get pushed into the bottom of the jacket and then wicks up so I still end up soaked and freezing! Hopefully the more encompassing fairing of the VFR will stop this problem.
Well hopefully it'll be dry. I might ride down the night before to break up the journey.

Got a call from the dealer today, should be ready on Thursday. Only three more sleeps!

The weather looks like being awful so it may be quite a long day.

Enjoy your new bike. Watch the speed - it's very deceptive ;)

Thanks folks, I'll post up some pics when I get the beast. I'll try to avoid getting any pictures from the boys in blue.

Got back a couple of hours ago. five and a half hours for the 340 miles each way.
Got totally drenched on the way down, stayed overnght and had to wait till lunchtime as thats when I'd organised the insurance changeover. It meant that I had time to set the levers etc before going. And pack the bike. And have lunch. It was a bloody long wait!

So the bike.
It was as described, the guys from the dealer (Philip Youles in Blackburn) were great and it's in immaculate condition.
It's umm quite fast, I had a couple of bursts of proper acceleration, mainly down slip roads and ended up giggling each time.
Motorways are pretty boring places so I was struggling at times to keep the speeds sensible as it's quite easy to go from 3 points to instant ban without really noticing.

The seat started to get pretty uncomfortabe towards the end, as did my wrists. But I've just come off 2 years of the armchair that is a Triumph Tiger so I should get used to this. I also stopped for a total of about 20 mins in the whole run (2 fuel stops) where if I was with a group I'd probably stop for longer.

Wind protection is pretty amazing, mine has the extra screen and hand bits, both work really well.

The fuel gauge seemed to be pretty poor, full for 50 miles then empty at 130! Pessamistic too, I ran it to 150 both times I filled up.
Also who came up with that heated grip switch? I know I'lll put the bit that tells you when they're on under your thumb!

I'll need to get more time on fun roads too as the short section of intresting stuff at the end was uncomforable. I think just getting used to the bike should sort that though as I was approaching corners too fast then slowing too much.

All in all, once I get some quality time with the bike I think it'll be great. I'm really impressed with the quality and small details where they've obviously thought about things other manufacturers don't bother with.

After a weekend on a stag do I finally got some quality time on fun roads.
A blast into the hills has proven that I've bought the right bike.

It's not as good at low speed as the Tiger was but the handling and stability when pressing on more than makes up for this!

Overtaking is obviously better too, car-blaa-past it. Overall I just want to go touring now, prefferably to Germany so I can unleash it properly!

Well 3 days and 620 miles of hoofing around the west coast of Scotland and the VFR is proving to be a great touring missile! Power is addictive.

I may need to stop gunning it past slower cars in 2nd gear on full throttle, the rear PR3 is now looking pretty used with around 1500 miles on it! (it was on the bike when I got it). There were small bits of rubber on the outside of the hugger.

I've taken off the touring screen thing too, I don't like the look of it on the bike and the difference in wind protection isnt enough for me to leave it on.

Sore wrists and bum, I think my right wrist is sore because of the small grips and fairly serious power so I'm holding on too tight. I'll live with the seat.
