Hi Guyz,

I'm new to site, so big hi to all.

I have recently took purchase of a new VRF1200 in red ,though I have yet to have the pleasure of riding said bike!!! After an unfortunate off on my 800 vtec (written off), there was only a choice of two bikes to make, do I stick with 800 vtec which has been a tried and tested companion since new, almost 4 yrs ago and has not given me the slightest hint of a problem in that time, or do I go for the all new singing n dancing 1200 model?? I took the latter out on a couple demo rides and was more than impressed, and although a little more than I was looking to spend, I thought, "What The Hell!!!" Anyhow, I found a fab deal in "Wheels Honda" in Grimsby. At £115 to deliver to Glasgow, it was cheaper than having to collect bike myself. The bike was delivered on the following fri and to my absolute horror, it started to snow on the sat morn and the roads have not been snow/ice/salt free now in nearly 7 weeks!!! So here I am, bike in garage and all I can do is admire it or listen to its muted muffles as only 6 miles on clock and unable to rev it's nuts off!!!

Going a little of track now, anyhow the reason I'm on is to seek a little info on accessories for the 1200 model. To date, I still think the 800 is the better looking of the two bikes but the 1200 is most def a grower with one exception, it def needs a sports seat cowl to bring it into the same style league as the 800?? Is anyone aware of an after market cowl as I dont believe Honda do one as yet?

Kind regards

Scotti:violin:

Have a look at this post in the forum under corbin as the combined seat and locker/cowl seems like a perfect solution. If you get one let me know how it went.

The Corbin Smuggler trunk doesn't come cheap, but it is the handiest thing you'll ever buy! 6 liters of room and it doesn't stick out into the airstream.

I have the prototype.

Since I'm in Southern California, I don't know.. start by contacting Corbin.
http://www.corbin.com/ if they have a European distributor, they can tell you whom.

I think I'll send Mike Corbin a bill for advertising MSGT-R. :p

I'd rather send him a big hug! ;)

The Smugger and the Gunfighter seat were long in coming, but definately worth the wait! Mike Corbin graciously gave my husband a new seat for his Goldwing because the whole process took so long (about 3.5 months).

I just rode my Magna, Goldwing and KLR while waiting.

The same thing happened four years earlier with my CBR1000RR, and Mike also gave me a seat for my V65 Magna in the same manner. He's one heck of a great person, and his fame has never gone to his head.

I am truely fortunate to be only a 7 hour ride from them through some of the best scenery and twisty roads in the country! :)

Hey, when are you coming over for a visit?

I'm sure you would, madam....

So all the negative press I've read about him is just negative press....?

You can't throw me off the trail as easily as that, madam.... :t:

Actually....having finally been granted early retirement yesterday, I've been having impure thoughts about buying a bike over there and leaving it in my buddy's garage in San Jose. Paul Brooks at British Motorcycle Gear in San Diego has been asking me for a while when I'm going to go and see him there. So I might just make a trip down Hwy 1. I've ridden some of it on a bike but have only ever made it down to San Diego and Tijuana in a car.

OTOH, I think SWMBO has other plans including a trip to Hawaii and a kitchen refit. We'll see...

Yes. He's very focused when on a project and, like everyone else, is struggling to keep a company under his butt.

You have to thunder right past me. I expect to get a heads-up when it happens. :woosh:

Mackie Harley Davidson/Buell in Oshawa Canada does a winter ride from San Diego down through the Baja, Lower California. Mackie is a family business who also operate enclosed car carriers. They are contracted to carry GM test and experimental vehicles and show cars to off sites for General Motors. They load a number of bikes (don't have to be Harleys) into one of the cargo vans, drive them to San Diego in the winter. Meanwhile the riders fly and rendevous for the ride down highway 1. Mackie also operate in England and Europe but perhaps under another name. They also do flexible scheduling sub-assembly operations for the auto industry.
