Does anyone know how many Honda have sold or any way of knowing?
Few reasons why I ask, firstly I was told a shocking figure tonight, showing very poor sales, secondly when enquiring a few weeks ago in my local Honda dealers I was told that he looked like selling three the week of the special package offer, then again on Saturday I called in and again enquired how sales where going, informing him I had heard from a few sources sales were poor and the launch and sales seemed poor. Again he told me three had been sold that week which in the current climate and with Honda having to entice us to purchase by offering the extra package deal, seems a little hard to believe, or am I being too scepticle?

Currently own vfr800 v tec which many don't like compared to older750 and pre v tecs but can't complain other than snatchy around town and when fully off throttle then coming back on find it snatchy.
Test rode the 1200 and found it a lovely bike to ride with ample power but luggage capacity poor and very expensive so any thoughts on the zzr1400 in comparison to vfr1200

I swapped my ZZR1400 for a VFR1200 and have no regrets. The Kawasaki was very very quick, but the Honda is more than plenty quick enough with added character and a quality feel about it. Feels like it will last forever. Just something about these Honda V4s! :k:

Have to agree with you 100%. Also did a 4 day 2100 mile trip on my VFR1200 and packed for two with the honda bags. It's a motorcycle so don't pack the kitchen sink!

spoke about this to my dealer a few weeks ago, he told me that although sales were fairly slow, he sold more VFR's in its first year than he did Blackbirds when that was first released.

Thanks, this was the kind of responses I was hoping for, either previous experience or good biking knowledge to help decide what next to choose. Don't Fancy forking out all that cash and making a mistake, although I realise everyone has different taste and opinions it is good to have feedback from others.

That's interesting when you look how popular the blackbird has been, maybe people waiting to see what feedback is like first and with the economy as it is certainly won't help. I loved the bike when test rode it and think it does have a class look about it yet quite bare, yet love the styling of my vtec.
The zzr1400 has a real mean look about it and to me is a lovely bike, performance great but more of a lean over tank and possibly not as comfortable for touring as the vfr1200 which in comparison seems much more upright yet still a lovely riding position.
Although all bikes will go up next year due to the tax hike, can't see point buying now with winter, snow and salt on road think it will be march time but wanting decision on choice now

I spoke to my dealer a few weeks ago and he said they were the second highest seller in the UK with a massive........13, the problem (or not if you like being unique) we agreed is that you have to ride this bike to feel how good it is and quite a few dealers were not giving test rides.

Owning a VFR 800 I knew it woulg take something special to get me off the 800, I test rode 5 bikes in total the ZZR being one of them. It was and is unbelievable quick once you get the engine spinning and without doubt the best brakes on a bike I have ever ridden bar none. But although there is absolutely nothing wrong with the bike and I think it is a an awesome looking machine it was simply down to ergonomics. Simply put, it didn't fit me, after 90 mins on the bike the old back was feeling it and after doing 3500 round Europe this year on the 800 with nothing more than a sore backside I knew it was not for me.

I actually ordered the new Sprint GT had the reg number and an Ins Cover note for it. But I felt I was changing for changing sake so backed out of the deal(Dealer to be fair was brill). Its a good bike but not as good as the 800. Which brings me onto the 1200, Test rode that, instant smile, knew it was for me, yes it is expensive (but I was lucky and got the latest deal) it is a wee bit heavy on juice (but who cares its a toy). I think it looks great others don't, couldn't care less. It is for me the perfect replacement for the 800 and for me that its enough.

Sales figures are a separate issue to choice of bike.

I asked about sales figures through curiosity, just wondered if anyone knew just how well it was actually selling as there seems to be a lot of hike about poor sales with the vfr1200.
I personally think the bike is great both asthetically and technically. The bike is cracking to ride but enquired about bike choice for feedback on both the zzr and vfr from people with knowledge to help decide which would be for me the best option for replacing my current vtec. It's always good to have reviews from previous or current owners.

It is a cracking bike, but sales figures are never going to be great, It appeals to a limited group of people ( look at the average age) factor in the recession plus the time of year. If you do buy it you certainly won't be disappointed.:)
cheers
Mark.

Oh sh-- well certainly won't be buying this month so that's that one up the swany. Had a browse today and certainly feel tempted to go for one but most certainly waiting now until march but do still intend trying out the zzr1400. Spoke to a Honda dealer in Darlington today and he has only sold three since the launch in February but like he said, hondas do have a tendency to be slow off the mark. The fireblade he said was very poor sales figures when first released then went on to become the biggest motorcycle seller of all Catergories.

Wondering how much the new VAT increase may affect it too......how much more kit could the dealers throw at it?

Just as an aside to this thread. I contacted Sergeant seats via e mail couple of months ago and they replied that they were not making a seat for the V12 as sales figures in USA were poor and that determines whether or not they produce one. However not disappointed with my V1200 as its a belter of a bike and I have no regrets.

Noticed this from Ash On Bikes:

Incidentally, UK registration figures up to the end of July indicate that the VFR is far from being the sales disaster some were predicting (or hoping?) it would be. From which I think we can conclude that this bike's virtues speak for themselves.
