Just bought my new 60 plate baby home (silver of course) and she is so sweeeet!

This is the first bike I've had from new and so was wondering what the recommended process is for running in? How can you possibly not open it up to get that valve roar?

My dealer was also trying to sell me on the honda service plan. You pay 575'ish quid up front and then that covers you for all the services up to and including the 24k one, which would be some £2000 worth of servicing. What does the forum think about this one, it sounds like a good deal, but is there a catch?

Hmmm, Are they claiming 2000 gbp for 4 oil changes?

What is "valve roar"?

Breaking in: Lots of hard acceleration followed by hard deceleration. No extended periods of constant speed for several hundred kilometers

Hi,

agreed about the break-in, don't molly coddle it, give it some beans :) Has worked for me on every new bike, never had problems and engines have always been sweat, as is my VFR engine :)

This was also my first new bike, and I pondered at first with the service deal, and then thought about servicing costs on the 800 vfr and thought that this seemed a reasonable price. There seems to be no catch, you can take it to any Honda dealer and pay for nothing filters oil time is all paid for, the only thing I could see you would pay for is brake pads, everything else would be covered and of course you also get the three year warranty. I assume it is like a car so needs to be done at the very least at a VAT registered garage so your still not saving much there. Also if selling having a main dealer service stamped book sells the bike over one that does not.:)
