Nope. Valves are at 24K now.

My owners manual says 16k miles for valve clearance inspection.

Are you looking at the km values?

were does £160 come from is it a case of you only need a sevice once a year so we will charge you double.

It is an oil\filter change, not good to just rip people off because they will spend so much to buy the bike.

Shame on Honda:t:

Pffffft. I'm not going to let some Putz do my oil changes. :t:

Besides, I'm putting in synthetic after break-in.

I watched my Putz do the first service, for two reasons 1. to see more of the bike and how easily they found it to work on in an 'official' capacity and 2. to make sure they knew what they were doing given that it was the first ever service any of them had ever done on one of these.

As far as oil is concerned, I'm going with whatever they tell me to put in. If it goes wrong it's them that's paying for it!

I've had a really bad time with service departments here working on my bikes (several). I stopped trusting two dealers because their technicians would have such a lack of attention to detail or lack of adequate communication. Oil changes are simple, and will not void the warranty if documented properly.

I agree - but my guys let you sit there and watch them. They'll give you a comfy chair, a coffee and will talk you through it if you like. I don't do it often but it gives me a bit of security that I can if I like.

Good. Sit their butts on a plane and send them over to us! :}

The Technician left my bike in the "new bike launch area" with the keys, owner's manual, and helmet leash (in pouch) missing and the battery disconnected, then went home. Me and my Salesman had to go back to his service area and go looking for all of the above items. Not a good way to start with me. There was only one gallon in the tank.

At two wheels today picking up new VFR12. David tells me £88 for 600 service. The Lecht Rocks, you are being ripped off at Ecosse. Get yourself to 2 wheels and get the service plan for £575. Its gonna work out a bargain even with the extra travelling. Tell Ecosse to sling their hook and take your business elsewhere. I usually like to stay local with servicing etc but the Honda Servicing deal really is money well spent. Ecosse appear to be not wanting to do it cos it cuts their profits. Excellent service NOT.

I hate going to Two Wheels  cos there is always so much i want to buy :} , i want a new bike, but i enjoy tinkering on my present VFR, tinkering on a new bike might cause problems with warranty :t:

Only directly to those parts affected.

If you put on crash protectors, it would have nothing to do with a trouble code flashing for a problem in the ABS.. unless you cut a system wire while drilling a hole.

just covered 1000k & done the service. Cost me a bottle of oil & a new filter...f@ck all really. The quality that besets this bike is probably unprecedented. You just know that this bike will go on & on & on; instant classic.

Honda1964 (Paul). Likewise, nice to have met you. Got on really well. I know its a new toy, but what a bike!!!!! Didnt think Honda would get it wrong, despite what some of the press were saying. Bought it without a test ride. Best decision I could have made. The journey home was most pleasing. Only down side is I cant get first service done till 28th. That cuts down on how much i can use it till then. But afterwards, the world is my oyster. Needless to say I am most impressed. Anyone got the baglux tank cover and bag as I had one on last VFR I had and am seriously thinking of another?

Interesting to compare with the invoice in front of me for my Pan 1300 that has just had its 12K service on Friday. This was with a small family-run Honda dealer in Berkshire.

Oil (semi-synth) 27.84
Filter 9.08
Washer 0.31
Oil disposal, etc 5.00
Labour (@55/hr) 110.00

Total 152.23
VAT 26.64

To pay 178.87

So, apart from paying someone else to ride my bike on a test ride at £55/hr(!) it's pretty much the same. Actually, they also changed the brake pads so there is a labour element for that although I took the parts out of the price above, and I'm not actually sure that they charge by the half-hour so everything gets rounded up. There must also be some overhead in there for the bike they loaned me.

Regard it as a rip-off, gross overcharging or whatever but it represents the going rate if you want a Honda service to feel happy about maintaining an argument-free warranty-compatible service history. Of course, if you still live in the "five bob spark plug" era, it sounds like a lot...

All the same, once out of warranty the Pan will be serviced at home and it's not going to get this 4K oil change nonsense. It will be 8K and like it.

Does the fixed-price service plan limit the number of services or mileage? How would it work if you do 20K miles a year? Not that it would have worked in my case even if available - the dealer I bought the bike from went bust a month later...

I think it is a 3 year deal up to the above . However if you don't do the miles you get a yearly service which is recomended in the service schedule:beer:

Had the First service done today, £99.55 + VAT, and the loan of their Fireblade demonstrator for the morning:).

Really made me appreciate just how comfortable the VFR is on the long ride home, and it doesn't seem to be any slower than Fireblade.;)

Now up to 875 miles in the first month and still loving it. Off to the Dordogne on a mini tour on 7 June so I need to sort out what I'm going to do about luggage. Anybody seen the GIVI arms yet? They're listed on their website but no pictures.

It was a shame that Honda dropped the free hours labour you use to get but understandable under the current climate, however this certainly is the dealer taking the P*ss.

I have been qouted £88 by Two Wheels, I get mine done a week today.

Hi Paul,

I remember my dealer telling about it when Honda changed that, my dealer though, said they were going to cover some of the cost as goodwill to customers.

I wonder if chunky has paid the full amount, although still seems excessive
