I just booked with the German version of the AA (ADAC)
Their cover is personal based, so you are covered for any car or motorcycle anywhere in Europe (including the UK). Very useful if you need cover for your car as well as your bike. Cover for a full year is just 79,50€ so about £66! ![]() They speak English pretty well, or you can book online: Tel: 00 49 180 2 22 22 22 The following link takes you to the correct cover type. https://www.adac.de/mitgliedschaft/a...rcePageId=8488 One other key benefit of the ADAC service is that if you have an accident or serious illness then they will transport you home. If you are just travelling in Europe on your European Health Insurance Card then whilst you will be treated in hospital, you will have no repatriation cover, which makes the above feature very useful.

Are you sure you read all the small print thoroughly - in its original German, of course.

mmm that's interesting, in principal there's no reason why a foreign breakdown company can't cover people in the UK. 'Common market' and all that. They all use third parties to do the recovery etc these days anyhow. I'm just wondering how it would work in the UK, if you broke down do they send someone out to try a fix or is it just a trip home job? and how long can you expect to wait roadside? The price certainly seems reasonable, perhaps they don't use peoples subscriptions to subsidise the cost of sending countless transit vans out to fix punctures for women who don't know one end of a wheel brace from the other.

ADAC is the biggest breakdown company in Europe. They have over 18 MILLION members and amongst their own fleet of vehicles they even have 44 of their own helecopters!
They started out as a motorcycle assistance company and grew, today they are still the biggest motorcycle association in the world with 1.5 million members. They have a partnership agreement with the AA, so you can call the AA here in the UK and use your ADAC membership. More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ADAC

Cheers for the heads-up on this Wiz - just about to sort out cover for my forthcoming French trip
![]() ![]() ![]() One thing about booking online...........noticed this warning when browsing: Using the links below to acquire ADAC membership requires that your place of residence is in Germany. For technical reasons, our system does not support international addresses. If you do not have a German address, please contact an ADAC local office or call 01805 10 11 12 (14 cent/min German landline, max. 42 cent/min. from mobile networks). We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Best to give them a call on the number given in the first post to be sure!!! Cheers Carl |
