Thought people here might find this interesting: I have been test riding various models lately, including 1150RT and new 1200GS. Have been chatting with the salesman about my desire to try an RS given the "cult like" following the bike has.
Not only does he not have one to ride, he NEVER stocks the bike and will only get one for somebody who orders it. Obviously this makes it tough for me. Has anyone else encountered this? I'm not sure if it says something about the future of the model or if the guy justs wants me to buy something he's got in stock. Many thanks to all of you who responded to my earplug query. |

I'm in Daytona and the D.B. BMW shop stocks every model. If it makes you feel ANY better, they usually only have 1 (one, un, uno) R1150RS.
They have 36 K12LT's taking up most of the showroom (LT=Light Truck) and recently (in time for Biketoberfest and weeks after the entire place flooded, causing 38 or so bikes to be damaged) they are selling RT's for less than $13K. hmmmmm There's at least 30 of the damn things. The only bike they have just a "few" of (at least 4) is the '05 GS. I don't think my grandma spent $22K on her first house which is the sticker on the one I saw.Keep looking. This bike is well worth the search. Amber |

Hi, Anita. I'm not sure where in NY you are, but if you're near the Albany area, try MAX BMW Motorcycles. They recently opened a dealership in Brunswick, NY (near Troy), and they typically have an RS in stock (whether by design or accident, I don't know). Good folks to deal with, too.

Got this email from a dealer today. I was trying to find an RS.
"It is funny that we have had 2 R1150RS’s here for a few months and then both sold within a week. You may have some trouble finding one to ride since dealer and BMW inventory is dwindling. You may have luck riding a private pre-owned version somewhere close?! The R1150RS has been discontinued for 2005. Although nothing has been announced we are expecting a replacement called the R1200ST sometime mid to late next year. It will carry the new GS style ‘hex head’ engine and drivetrain. The R1150RT is being updated for 2005 to include the GS engine and drvietrain as well. Again nothing has been officially announced, but we know something is coming probably March/April timeframe. Type in R1200RT into google and you will see some grainy spy photos. We do expect that all Boxer engine models will receive the revised engine updates through the next few years whether in current or revised bodywork." |

Garden State BMW (Ledgewood, NJ) had one on the floor about 2 weeks ago... You're right, though, they're not easy to find.

I thought it was Sills that had the bike on the floor. I believe All seasons had one also, they stock a good selection of Beemers, though they carry others brands as well.

Morton's BMW in Northern VA has 3 RS models. all used, but two of them with around 10K on them. One a 2002 1150 in excelent condition, solid dark blue for $9.999 and been there several months. The other a silver 2000 1100 with 11K on it for $9,500. The third is a 95 1100 RSL in white with 38K on it for $5,500.
