Default It now RUNS!

I just wanted to tell everyone that I found out what was causing my bike to require a whole lot of cranking before starting. It seems like I went through everything, replacing the fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, battery, and I ran a fuel injector cleaner though her when I happened to start her. Just when I was about the give up and put a .45 bullet though her "head"-gasket I took off the fuel injectors. They were both gunked up and after a little cleaning shot out like there should. I put them in and she fired up after 1/2 second of cranking. I guess I should have checked them first but then again I have never been much of a gear head until now. If there is a positive side, I now have a bunch of tools to play with later on down the road. By the way it's a '94 with 35k. Thank you to those who originally gave me advice in the past.

Default Injector Cleaner

That's great news! Nothing more frustrating than a niggly problem like that. Terry Gibson raised an issue quite a while ago on the old BBS, about the injectors building up deposits and using an injector cleaner occasionally in order to prevent it. I now use Morrisons Superclean (UK company) every 5000 miles or so. Basically the same stuff as Wynns injector cleaner in the US.

Happy riding.

Default fuel additive, or externally applied?

Hi. Is the fuel injector (Wynn's, et. al.) something you dump in your gas tank?

Thanks!
David

ps - whose bike never starts within a half-second of anything, except the first time trying to start it.

Yes, that's right - a cleaning solvent that you just add to the gas. It should prevent buildup of deposits on the injectors, but is unlikely to cure any that are badly gunged up already.
