'95 r1100rs was completely reasembled mechanicaly, and is in ideal shape, exept for electronics. Everything is set to factory defaults. The computer just gives rich mixture to the cilinders. Is there some way to set computer manualy? Or, how to find the broken part in electronics which makes it to run rich?
Thank you! |

Few adjustments can be made, or measured.
Set TPS at 360-380 mV at idle. Check oil- and airtemp sensors for resistance, 2,5 kOhms at room temp, decreasing when warmed. If equipped with cat/O2 sensor, check sensor for switching 0-12-0 V. If equipped with CO-pot, set CO at 2-2,5% at idle. Paul. |

Everything seems to be in order, still can not find the problem.
I am so desperate. Considering putting carbs instead injection. Should I? |

Hi
Have you reset the motronic? Plenty of threads here on how to do it (search) HTH John |

I did everything (even changed the injectors). Maybe the dealer has some sort of super computer that can identify false sensor that is making it run so rich...

I am ignorant - and I mean that. But how can you tell its running that rich?

Well, if it's anything like my 850GS was when that ran rich you could see black smoke from the exhaust (which looked sooty) if you looked carefully (and smell unburnt fuel). I cured it by replacing the oil temp sensor and CO pot (as well as checking tps setting). Also, it used more fuel than my 1100RS, which also runs a little on the rich side, but then again has a lovely smooth transition from idle to full throttle with no surging at all. If your oilhead is running really rich, as they can do when there is a fault, you'll know about it.
