In the previous version of the RS forum, there was quite a bit of information on RS owners who has drilled the end of their mufflers.
I've seen pictures of a RS mufler with six holes drilled next to the stock exhaust hole. Anyone who's done this care to comment on the long term effect/result of the drilling? |

Long term effect - None. Bike has 44k miles w/no problems due to drilling.
Result - More volume than stock. No performance gain. |

You can check my pics and see how I have drilled the exhaust. Only thing that changed was the sound. It is a little throaty at slow speed and not noticable at high speed. No change in performance other than it sounds faster when accelerating from slow speed, therefore it is...
. I stopped with three holes, although I drilled six pilot holes. I have not noticed any rust or damage...yet JMc |
