The maintanence manual (R1150RS, '04) shows fuse location 8,9, and 10 as unused. However, I have fuses (7.5amp) in location 8 and 9. No. 10 is blank. I also discovered that fuse 9 is for the high beam. When I questioned the dealer he also said the fuses show as unused.
So what gives here. The book tells me I should have 3 blank slots. The dealer says I should have 3 blank slots. But I have 2 of 3 filled and I know one is actually used. Has anyone run into this? Do you have any idea what No. 8 fuse is for? Why am I being misled???

The positions are blank - not connected to the bike's wiring harness - and the fuses there are spares.

Dave,
Position 8 and 9 (supposed to be blank) are connected to the wireing. Thus the need to have fuse 9 in place for the high beam. I'm useing the hot side of fuse 8 for the aux lights. No. 10 is blank.
I got my inspection at noon and mentioned this to the service manager. I asked why BMW is lieing. He said 'welcome to my world'. Happens to him all the time. He shows them as blank also.

Well, it's a mystery. Ah. I just noticed you're on an R1150RS; mine's an R1100RS. It's certainly possible that the wiring's different for the two models.
