I think I have narrowed down the problem to that of fuel delivery. The fuel filter looks as though it is the original when I took it out of the tank (I now have 33.6k miles). In my over zealous attempt to get things done, I cut into the U-shaped fuel line that connects the fule pump to the filter and now find myself without a bike until the dealer can order another for me (you kinda think they would have that on hand?).
Anyway, it gives me a little time to go over the tank and give it a nice cleaning but there is a question I have. The two lines that exit the tank seem normal enough, but the internals appear that only one line is connected to the fuel pump and therefor to the fuel filter. Is this correct? And, how much fuel is "unusable" by the engine due to low level. When BMW tells me I have a tank that holds 5.8 gallons (or whatever the number may be) is that the real amount usable or is that the total capasity?
Thanks in advance
