Hi, I just purchased an '02 r1150rsa traded in an '03 r150r. First gear,
0-20ish mph seems slower on the rs. Am I imagining this? Also, the stock screen seems a little weak, that up/down lever is a little flimsy. Would a cee bailey's be a better screen to go with. The 1150r was naked, so I'm still getting used to having a screen.
Thanks for the input.

The final drive ratio on the RS is higher than on the R, so with the same gearbox it will feel somewhat higher-geared. A few people here have swapped out their RS final drive for a lower-geared one (off an 850R I think), which gains you some acceleration at the cost of higher revs while cruising.

Look in the Accessories forum for some recent info on different screens. The adjuster is flimsy, and there's not much to be done about that.

after a two hundred mile trip yesterday, I knew I made the right choice in selling the 1150r and getting the rs. Thanks for the input.

I test rode every Oilhead model prior to my purchase of a brand new BMW motorcycle, including the R1200C cruiser. I've always liked the looks of the "naked" R bike, but just wouldn't be practical for long distance at fast pace. I couldn't find comfort riding hours on in sitting straight up, like the RT, GS riding position.
The day that I picked up my R1150RS, I rode it from Ann Arbor, MI back to my home in PA. 700 some miles, it sais alot about the riding comfort of the bike, now at 22600 some miles later it sure suits me.
