If anyone is interested, I'm selliing a Cee Bailey windshield. It is the largest one they make for the RS (I have a 2004 R1150RS). It's 6" taller and 4" wider than stock. After taking a couple of trips with this screen, I decided that I prefer the stock screen better, though the Cee Bailey definitely did the job of reducing windblast and noise. But, I want to be honest about why I'm selling it (and I'll let it go for cheap). I'll give you the advantages and disadvantages as I experienced them:
1. I'm 5'10" tall. The screen, at its current size, created a bubble of quiet air around me. The screen can be cut down, by the way, by Cee Bailey, to whatever size you want for a 20.00 fee. But it definitely got the wind blast off of me with a couple of inches to spare. That's the advantage of the screen.
2. The main problem, however, is that IF you use your adjustment on any setting above the lowest (i.e., with the screen coming off at essentially the same slope as the fairing, it puts too much load on the adjustment mechanism and, in time, (I think) will damage it. So, that's the main drawback. If I were "handier" (and less lazy about such things), I think I could have reinforced the mechanism at the hight I prefered and it would have worked fine. At any rate, I just want any potential buyer to understand that she or he may have to forfeight the ability to adjust the screen or risk damaging the adjustment mechanism if used at high speeds long enough. I'm not positive about that, but it seemed like that was going to happen.
3. Okay, if that little narrative hasn't deterred you, it's a good, solid, well-fitting screen that works well at blocking the air, can be cut down to a compromise size between stock and the size it currently is, and would work well for touring. In the end, I just decided I like the stock screen's appearance better and am willing to live with a little more noise and air <shrugging>. So, if anyone is interested, the Cee Bailey screen is for sale, is in perfect shape (no scratches, etc.,) and can be had for $50.00. Please email me if interested: Entropyd@bellsouth.net.
Thanks,
Darryl
