Is anyone using the lazer computer chip, with or without an aftermarket exhaust? I have seen it advertised, and have wondered how it works. I really don't like the idea of splicing things into wires, such as the Teclusion, although I know it works well. Let me know.

I have a lazer chip and the lazer CF exhaust. I honestly can't say whether or not it has improved the bike or not as I bought the bike that way. I can't tell you if the bike has any more HP or not either.

Anyways, the bike doesn't surge and has a nice top-end rush from 5k - 8k. The exhaust has a louder, deeper exhaust that is akin to a Ducati.

did they remove the catalytic converter or just change the pipe?

i have the laser exhaust with chip on my '04 RS. the kit came with a cat eliminator pipe and a new muffler can. the cat eliminator pipe has a bung for the factory oxygen sensor, but since i installed the chip the senosr is inactive. the chip runs in open loop compared to original closed loop. this means the fuel and ignition are all controlled without feedback from the O2 sensor.

i did a bunch of modifications at about the same time when i did the laser upgrade. i put GS tubes on, installed a CC airbox modificiation and swapped out the final drive for a 33/11 ratio. honestly the biggest engine mod from a seat of the pants perspective was the GS tubes. the lower gear ratio was the single biggest change. in light of all the other changes i don't think i can say how much performance i got from the laser pipe and chip. i definately like the sound of the laser pipe. i have the duo-tech with the straight through insert installed. i guess i'm not sure how much the chip gave me for power, but the bike does run very well at all altitudes, doesn't surge, and fuel mileage is still 45-50 mpg (even with lower gearing.) i wanted to get all the reliable extra power i could out of my bike and the chip even if it is a small contributer should be an addition in power.

My RS surges a little, but not much. In fact, it is a little hard to determine if it is truly surging or drive line slop. I was thinking of a way to get rid of the last vestiges of the surging. The Techlusion gets rid of it with no doubt, but I really don't like splicing wires and such. It seems that changing the chip would be much neater solution, if it works. It sounds like it does.

Thanks. IT does not seem that many of our board members are using the chip, or if they are, have not answered my question.

I have a 03 1150RS and I have asked this question on every site I have found and very few people answer it, I want a little more sound out of mine
and any extra "push" would be a plus, the 2 brothers is real loud but the
driver said it helped his power in the 4-red line area, was up in your neck of the woods 3 weekends ago on the Cherohala Skyway, reeeal nice riding
area, am thinking about going up when the leaves start turning and run the
"Dragons Trail" and the Skyway again, If I ever get mine changed out I`ll let you know how I made out, Larry E
