Default Sealing a Datatool alarm fob.

I just had to replace the batteries in my Datatool alarm fob.

Obviously, it's important to retain its waterproofness.

It was sealed with snot-like stuff that looks exactly like the stuff that they use to stick credit cards to the letters.

What's the best stuff to use to re-seal it?

Obviously, it can't be too sticky, otherwise I won't be able to open it next time.

Thanks.

Think that snot stuff used to be called Cowgum(??) Remember many moons ago that my dad had some in his office that i used to mess about with when i went in to work with him on the odd weekend.

Not sure where you could get it now, maybe somewhere like 'STAPLES'?

Cant think of an alternative ecept for a light smear of silicoset or a bathroom/kitchen type sealant, it would be able to be peeled apart with a bit of pressure.

Wot kind of fob you got mate.

The old solid black ones dont need sealing as they already have an o ring in place.

Alt a bit of silicone sealant make sure it is working first tho

Any bathroom silicone sealer will do the job (flexi type) it wont glue just hold and seal till you need to remove it again.

What is fink doing up at that time? If I was Up at that time my leg would be trying to get over ( but not with any success as usual)

Well, luckily, after removing, cleaning and replacing the batteries in my Datatool System 3 alarm fob, it all started working again, so I don't need new batteries for a while yet.

But I have found out that you can buy a System 3 Battery Seal Kit [1], part number 02012064, for £9, which comprises of a complete new plastic housing for the transmitter, with seal, and a pair of batteries.

Although I have seen the CR2016 batteries at 79 pence each.

[1] You'll need to select System 3 Battery Seal Kit from the drop down menu.
