Default Seat cowl

Hi,

I purchased and fitted a Powerbronze Seat Cowl on my CBR600F6 last season; however I have to admit to being ever-so-slightly disappointed. Looks great when fitted, although I found the whole fitting process rather awkward/haphazard and now it is in place fairly inflexible (all in comparison to its ~£50 price tag for what is in effect a piece of plastic!).

My thinking behind it was that I liked the single-seat look on the bike, and as I do not known many bike-loving passengers it was unlikely I'd ever be using the pillion seat, so much so I even had it as a discounted option on my insurance last year ("no carrying of pillion passengers"). This year however think I might use the pillion seat every so often, especially as for some reason it seems the insurance discount incentive isn't there anymore (<£10 difference).

My issue is: does the Powerbronze Seat Cowl easily remove / refit? From memory it was fitted using plastic clips that were stuck on (stick pads) to the inside of the cowl while in place around the seat, and then the bond reinforced with more bonding resin type paste (not sure if I ever got round to doing the second bit of sticking actually). Is what I want to do possible - occasionally remove the seat cowl for a day and then put back on, without having to go through the whole gluing process again? If not, is there another similar seat cowl (non-Powerbronze) that IS removable?

Cheers, Simon

Great news - thanks for that!

I think it was just from memory that it was such a pain to fit (perhaps my own incompetence?!) that I couldn't see it easily being removed etc without breaking the clips - I guess there is some sort of bending them and sliding the thing back involved.. will give it a try this eve/weekend!

I take it this is in reference to the non-so-pretty Courier font?! Nope not down to a love of Notepad, more that I'm test driving a proprietary system developed for a customer at the moment (but that has basic internet access), unfortunately there seems to be an issue with character mapping/encoding when using anything but the most basic of fonts (ie. apostrophises causing formatting errors and cut-offs when embedded within HTML).

The clips are a bit fiddly but not to much bother.

Is there a particular technique to it (ie. not to dislodge them / snap them / mark the seat)? Did you use the provided resin paste thingy to further stick on the clips.. or just the sticky peel-back pads?

Cheers, Simon
