the 'easiest' way of doing it is to cut off the original subframe and weld the RR one on. that way all fixings, mountings etc.. all line up and you can just bolt on the rear end.

failing that you'd probably have to do some serious modifications to the existing one, cutting bits off, welding on new mountings, etc..

have you considered a 600F sport rear end? might be similar work involved but i wonder if the mountings would be more similar than the 600RR?

hi mate,

already commented on this on another thread you enquired on.

I done a F Sport conversion on my 2000 fy, All in it cost 200 quid off a bloke off another forum. The work took me a few hours. if your considering it let me know and ill give you a list of parts you need and full instructions on how to do it.

All in all the work took a few hours once i had all the bits.
May not be that easy to convert for a 96 using the f sport back end i am afraid, totally different back end from a steelie to the ally framed bikes.

You could fit a single seat cowl to the 96 bike though at a reasonably small cost

If you are determined to do it then Supz suggestion is probably the only viable option IMHO.

Not entirely sure I'd describe welding aluminium onto steel as easy.

You could weld steel mounting points in place then attach the rear subframe as normal with ally framed bikes, they bolt on with them dont they?

No but im sure you could weld ally brackets to the sub frame and steel brackets to the bike frame and bolt them together?
