Default Chain Oiler - Tutoro v PDOiler v Scottoiler V system

Hi,

I,m looking at getting a chain oiler. Just that I don't see the point in paying over £200 for an electronic system when all Need to do is put some oil on the chain every week or so.

Is it really worth getting an oiler or not???

For £20 the Tutoro twin nozzle oiler seems about the most sensible option!

Any views would be greatly appreciated.

Puds

The Scottoiler isn't £200. Google tells me you can get it for £50. Then there's eBay.

The advantage of the Scottoiler is that it starts and stops automatically with the engine.

I have one and think it's great.

The cheaper, the more involved, you could get an oiler for about £20 that you have to turn on/off everytime you get on/off bike

Middle of the road is the v system with vacuum tubes, not overpriced for what it does but oils when engine is running so unlike above, you won't keep having to turn a tap

Then top end, £200 you get the e system, only oils when the bike has forward movement (& when you first start up cause of autochoke )
You fill reservoir & forget until screen tells you to add more oil, if chain is looking dry, you simply push a button on screen

We all make our own choices on how much we can afford at the time or for people who don't have to consider money (not that many I would imagine)
Buy what they think will suit their needs

Of course an oiler is not an essential more of a luxury, there's still the spray on stuff

Hope that helps

Also depends on how much you use the bike once a onth for a hundred miles then use the stuff in a tin. Daily usage in allweathers then a scottoiler is a must.

Good point, Fink.

I couldn't live without one. I fill it every second week. If I was using a can, I'd have to do it every day.

I used the self tappers on my 600, didn't mind drilling the swing arm on that, don't think I fancy doing that on the Blade though

I found that the single injector didn't keep the far side of the chain clean or lubricated, so opted for the dual injector, I do think the Scottoiler is way overpriced but they do what they do very well.

Thank you for replies on the dual injection kit and esystem.

Basically yeah.
I realize dual system kit oils both sides and no two ways about it.

The single injector claims to deliver oil to the other side by capillary action.
(Can't see it myself, one drop per second, lasting long enough to oil down the side it places,
then to travel along the roller to the other side, then hop over the side plate and travel in between to the orings.
All at god knows how many Ft. per second a chain is shifting).

Nothing will convince me a single oiler is nothing but a half sided measure.

Also I agree it's a much neater install. Neatness is worth every penny.
My CBR is my toy and......well she's worth it.

I don't need black handle levers, but she's going to get a pair.
Because they look so much neater against the already black area
(dashboard, handle bars, switchgear, top in-fill panels) of the bike.

Anyone in the market for Scottoiler.
At the moment the cheapest I can find is Amazon.
(amazed me too).

Esystem at £162 (freepost)
Dual system at £22 (freepost)

Blinking heck, thats a lot less than I paid, well done on finding a bargain

Drill the swing arm I'll stick with the cable tie, I like to put toys on but I have all parts to put it back to original
